Course Requirements
8-Hour Course Completion Rules
- 1This is a full 8-hour Driver Improvement course that must be completed in its entirety.
- 2Each module has a required minimum time (e.g., 10 minutes) that must be fully completed before you can advance.
- 3You cannot skip ahead. Modules must be completed in order and within their allotted time.
- 4You may log out and return at any time. Your progress is saved automatically.
Important: The time shown in your portal does not reflect your classroom hours. Your official course time is tracked by the number of modules you have completed, not the portal clock.
Final Exam
Taking the Final Exam
- 1The final exam becomes available after all course modules are completed.
- 2You must achieve a passing score to complete the course.
- 3If you do not pass, you may retake the exam as many times as needed until you receive a passing score.
No limit on retakes. Take your time, review your course materials, and retake the exam until you pass.
RADEP Program
RADEP Program Completion Rules (12 Hours)
The Virginia Reckless / Aggressive Driver Education Program (RADEP) is completed in two parts. You must finish both parts to complete the full 12-hour program.

Part 1
8-Hour Driver Improvement Course
Complete every module in order, meet each module's minimum time, and pass the 8-hour course final exam.

Part 2
4-Hour RADEP Course
Complete every module in order, meet each module's minimum time, and pass the 4-hour course final exam.
- 1Complete the 8-hour Driver Improvement course first, then the 4-hour RADEP course. Together they make up the full 12-hour RADEP program.
- 2Both courses follow the same rules: each module has a required minimum time, modules must be completed in order, and you cannot skip ahead.
- 3Each course has its own final exam. You must pass the 8-hour course exam and the 4-hour RADEP course exam separately.
- 4Already completed an 8-hour Driver Improvement course? You may only need the 4-hour RADEP course. The 4-hour course on its own is not the full 12-hour program.
- 5Your progress is saved automatically in each course. Your certificate is available to download from your student portal once the course requirements are complete.
Check your court order: Confirm which course your court or referring authority requires (8-hour, 4-hour or full 12-hour RADEP) and that it accepts online RADEP before you begin.
DMV Reporting
Certificate & DMV Reporting
- 1Once you complete the course and pass the final exam, your completion is reported to the Virginia DMV.
- 2You do not need to submit anything to the DMV. If a court ordered you to take the class, you may call the clerk's office to see how it is handled. DMV reporting is handled by Virginia Commonwealth Driving Improvement Clinic on your behalf.
- 3Your certificate is available to download from your student portal within 24 hours after you finish the 8 hours and pass the exam. Rush students can download it immediately.
Reporting timeline: Please allow a few business days for your DMV record to reflect the update after your certificate is issued.
